Welcome to Intro to Modern Watercolors
Before we get started, I wanted to mention a few things about the supply list for this class (attached below).
First, please think of the supply list as a guide. There is no need to use the exact supplies that I do, you can substitute in different brands of paints, types of paper, brushes etc. One of the things that I love most about teaching classes, is seeing how participants mix things up and approach the lessons in unique ways.
Throughout this class, I have used Daniel Smith watercolor paints and I do understand that they are a splurge. A lovely splurge but a splurge just the same! Please know that you can enjoy this class with any type of watercolour paint!
When it comes to your paper, it is important that you use watercolor paper. I love cold press paper for it's slightly textured surface, but you can by all means try a smoother hot press paper. The quality of your watercolor paper does make a difference, so if you have the opportunity to use a more premium brand such as Fabriano or Canson, definitely give it a try. It's not essential but it will help you to see how using a good paper can positively impact upon your work. I use Strathmore often in these classes.
If you have any questions about the supplies, please don't hesitate to ask.
Now, let's get into the class!
